Top Issues - Isobel Michaud
Safe communities, responsible budgets, and a stronger future for every DuPage family.
Skills for today. Opportunity for tomorrow.
Technology is reshaping every job—from healthcare to manufacturing. Isobel will foster county partnerships that prepare students and workers with the skills employers actually need, including AI-assisted tools, data literacy, and modern trades.
Working with workNet DuPage, school districts, College of DuPage, and industry leaders, she’ll advance internships, apprenticeships, and credential programs that offer real pathways to good local jobs.
The goal is simple: keep talent here, attract new employers, and help every resident thrive.
Key Actions:
Support workNet Dupage and launch county-industry working groups for high-demand career tracks
Support dual-credit and fast-track certificate programs in growth fields
Build paid internship pipelines with local firms (summer and semester)
Host “AI & the Workplace” workshops for small businesses and job seekers
Provide grants for equipment/tech that expand hands-on learning
Practical solutions, local focus, results for families.
DuPage has always worked best when government stayed close to the people and focused on essentials – public safety, reliable services, and wise stewardship of tax dollars. Isobel will restore that mindset: fewer distractions, more problem-solving.
She believes county government should be predictable and efficient – not partisan theater. That means clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and decisions grounded in data and what residents experience every day.
With a calm, consistent approach, Isobel will champion policies that help families thrive and businesses grow – without unnecessary bureaucracy or new burdens.
Key Actions:
Focus board time on core services and measurable outcomes
Protect neighborhoods by coordinating with cities, townships, and schools
Require cost-benefit and impact reviews before new mandates
Cut red tape that slows homeowners and small businesses
Keep meetings accessible, civil, and accountable to residents
Stand with law enforcement. Reduce crime. Keep families safe.
Isobel’s mom moved to DuPage in the 1990s for safety and opportunity. That promise must remain true today. Rising regional crime and policies that weaken accountability demand strong county leadership.
Isobel will work closely with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, State’s Attorney Bob Berlin, and local police departments to keep response times low, fight organized retail theft, and support proven strategies that deter repeat offenders.
Public trust matters. She supports community-based partnerships, training, and tools that help officers and residents work together—and keep our neighborhoods safe.
Open books. Clear priorities. Residents first.
Local government should be the most transparent, because it has the greatest impact on daily life. Isobel will expand public access to contracts, budgets, and performance dashboards so residents can see where money goes and what results they’re getting.
She believes public service is a civic duty—not a career ladder. Isobel will support strong ethics policies, conflict-of-interest rules, and term-limit discussions that build trust.
Customer service matters. From permits to public records to program eligibility, Isobel will push for faster timelines, mobile-friendly tools, and plain-language communication.
Every dollar counts—because it’s yours.
Families can’t spend money they don’t have; county government shouldn’t either. With a proposed 2026 budget near $645M, Isobel will demand disciplined planning, honest forecasting, and zero-based budgeting where needed.
Inflation is not an excuse for permanent increases. Isobel will question every automatic escalator, evaluate program results, and fund what works. She’ll protect essential services while holding the line on taxes and debt.
Transparent, responsible budgeting keeps DuPage strong—today and for the next generation.
Key Actions:
Require program scorecards and sunset reviews for underperforming spend
Shift dollars to core priorities: safety, infrastructure, and vulnerable residents
Expand shared-service agreements to lower costs without cutting service
Publish a simple “Where Your Dollar Goes” annual breakdown
Make DuPage the best place to launch and grow.
Small businesses are the backbone of DuPage—supporting families, training workers, and revitalizing our town centers. Isobel will champion predictable rules, faster permitting, and fair fees to help entrepreneurs focus on customers, not paperwork.
She’ll build partnerships between chambers, municipalities, and the county to market our strengths—logistics, talent, quality of life—and to keep our commercial corridors strong.
With smart incentives and responsible zoning, DuPage can attract investment while keeping neighborhoods livable and vibrant.
FUEL A SAFER, MORE TRANSPARENT DUPAGE.
Your voice. Your county. Get involved with Isobel’s campaign for safer streets and honest government.
